The Amerock Carriage House Collection: Iconic Mid-Century Home Hardware
If you were raised between the 1960s and 1980s, there's a pretty good chance either your parents, grandparents or neighbors had Amerock Carriage House hardware installed in their house. The Carriage House Collection was a very popular line of hardware designed to add an early American vibe to your home. Made by the American Cabinet Hardware Corp of Rockford, Illinois, accessories were exceptionally well-made from heavy-duty cast aluminum, featuring fine detailing and embossing. The pieces were available in two finishes: Antique English (brass) and Antique Silver (sometimes listed as English Pewter). The most common and recognizable pieces are the classic switchplate and outlet covers, but Amerock designed and manufactured just about every conceivable accessory you could buy for your home.
