Switzerland's Coroner are one of the greatest technical thrash metal bands ever, and this hard-to-find 1995 self-titled album is just more proof of that. It is a compilation of brand new and older tracks and you can hear Coroner progressing into the '90s with a more diverse mix of moody symphonic metal interludes and an industrial Helmet-esque heavy rock sound. Of course, it's chock-full of classic thrashers and moshers. Ron Royce's vocals are even more burnt and evil sounding than on previous releases and the band's musicianship is extraordinary. There's even an absolutely brilliant cover of the Beatles' I Want You (She's So Heavy) and an absolutely bizarre reggae version of Purple Haze! It's as long as a double album, with over 73 minutes and 16 tracks of top-notch Coroner! It’s also, unfortunately, the last album they released before splitting up. This is an original pressing of this long out-of-print CD. It is used and does have a few scratches and traces of enjoyment, but is still in very good condition. All CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or distortion.
THIS WEATHER REPORT VINTAGE ROCK POSTER IS AN ACTUAL COLUMBIA / EPIC RECORDS PROMOTIONAL ITEM WINDOW DISPLAY PRINTED IN 1978 FOR THE JAZZ FUSION LEGENDS' MR. GONE ALBUM. THE FULL-COLOR LITHO HEAVYWEIGHT STOCK POSTER MEASURES 44 INCHES X 42 INCHES, IS STILL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL PRINTER'S SHIPPING BOX ADDRESSED TO THE CBS RECORDS SOUTHEAST REGIONAL MANAGER. THERE ARE A FEW CREASES AND 1/2 INCH RIPS ALONG THE BORDERS, AND THERE ARE ALSO FIVE PINHOLES IN THE CORNERS AND CENTER EDGE, BUT THE POSTER IS NOT FOLDED OR CREASED AND HAS NO OTHER RIPS OR STAINS. IT STILL LOOKS GREAT HUNG ON A WALL AND WOULD MAKE AN AMAZING PIECE OF FRAMED ART.
The Mummies were probably the best band out of the garage punk revival of the late '80s, and the mummy outfits they wore onstage weren't half as entertaining as their hilariously belligerent lyrics. This is the original CD pressing of fuck the Mummies, the "lost" Mummies album that was recorded in the back of a Belmont, CA woodshop for Crypt Records. It wa subsequently rejected by the band for being “overproduced”...now that’s classic Mummies. The material was unofficially released on this CD, whose title is a play on the Mummies' slogan, "f**k CDs!". The front cover insert was printed on heavy stock paper, the back cover and CD face are handwritten in permanent marker! I read that Long Gone John Mermis of Sympathy for the Record Industry was behind this boot, but not sure exactly where it came from. This is not a cd-r or reproduction, it is the real deal. I bought it at a punk gig in 1993 or 1994 from some DIY distributor guy who was selling random boxes of records and CDs at the show. It received an opening bid of $59.99 about 1 1/2 hours after listing and is now sold and
blasting speakers in Canada. You will be hard-pressed to find another one of
these for sale, but there are a few other Mummies CDs that have been released since this one, and they are available now for your listening pleasure...
This is an original 1989 Voivod Nothingface CD pressing of the album many consider to be the finest work from the Canadian godfathers of progressive thrash.
In my humble opinion, the Voivod Nothingface CD is a very close second to Dimension Hatross. But, opinions aside, it’s an undisputed fact that Nothingface is one of the great metal albums of all time. Voivod delivers a staggering array of moods and diversity, thrashing out and psyching out in the same song. And it totally blows away Styx as the front-runner for the best rock opera / concept album about robots! The huge folding insert has a wall poster of the band on one side and lyrics with corresponding computer graphic art for each song from drummer Away. I remember staring and studying the insert art after school while I played this CD through my Pioneer SA-305 headphones. The Voivod CDs can be found new or can be purchased used in excellent condition. I was a comic book collector, too, so the insert is crisp and minty.
