Every now and then, an undrilled Manhattan Rubber bowling ball comes up for sale on eBay. Be sure to check above for a chance to find yourself a rare undrilled Manhattan ball. We found this vintage Manhattan Rubber bowling ball in a swank Vegas-style black & white bowling ball bag. We almost couldn't believe our eyes when we unzipped that bag and found this Manhattan Rubber bowling ball undrilled and wrapped in a factory cardboard sleeve! This model is like the one above, with the simple text in oval shape logo. We listed it at auction with an opening bid of $99, and a major bidding war ensued. The winner wasn't interested in the bag, so we just listed it, too, and it sold a couple weeks later!
This vintage Manhattan Rubber bowling ball is a different model from the examples above, with a graphic MR logo with the word MANHATTAN arching over it. This particular ball was actually drilled and personalized by two different bowlers by the names of DICK and BUD. Despite its well-used condition, this Manhattan Rubber bowling ball did not stay in our inventory long. Perhaps it was those iconic names. I mean, come on...Dick and Bud? How retro is that?
A Very Early Manhattan Rubber Bowling Ball...
This vintage Manhattan Rubber bowling ball looks like a very early model. The logo simply reads manhattan, and appears to be hand scrawled in Bauhaus style Art Deco lettering. Underneath is a small symbol; an arch with a dot in the center. It weighs about 16 pounds and the center of the middle finger hole to the center of the thumb hole measures approximately 4.75 inches.
